THE DOMINION STORY

Dominion University College is one of Ghana’s top private universities. It was incorporated in 2009 and granted an accreditation by the National Accreditation Board (NAB) in 2010. Accordingly, Dominion gained the status of a nationally recognised Institution of higher learning affiliated to the University of Cape Coast (UCC), one of the premier public universities in Ghana. Dominion was borne out of the tireless commitment of his Eminence the Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams who served as its first Chancellor. At the onset, the University was established with a christian worldview and a strong civic orientation drive to produce a crop of ethically minded graduates that are confident, adaptable and adequately equipped with the competencies that we now major employers really want. In 2012, Dominion opened its doors to its first cohorts of sixty-one (61) students. We have since grown steadily and produced 100’s of graduates who are doing well win their chosen fields. Currently Dominion comprises a confederation of four (4) academic divisions, two (2) academic enterprise units and a central administration team. We are pleased to note from our student’s satisfaction survey results that Dominion is chosen by many of our students because of its excellence in modern skills development, quality faculty, pragmatic teaching and innovative assessment methods. Over the years, Dominion has shown clear commitment to increasing not only the growth rate of people gaining access to higher education but also, the proportion from under-represented groups; in particular those from lower income families and people with disabilities. Though an institution with Christian worldview, students from all religious backgrounds are given equal opportunity. The accomplishment of Dominion University thus far is the result of the extraordinary teamwork by its most important assets – its people, Presidents, Deans, Faculty, Staff and most importantly our students. We will continue to attract and retain Faculty that are leaders in their fields who inspire generations of students starting with the President.
